A question is a statement which demands a response or answer. On a regular basis, people are asked to being asked questions. There are questions that are open-ended that require explanation, clarification and etc., while other inquiries need only a Yes or a No. In some instances others ask questions that do not need to be answered but rather for someone to hear (rhetoric concerns). The format in the question response will have to be able to explain what the question is looking for. Many people fail in exams not because of their dullness but because they do not be aware of what is asked to them. Unable to formulate the question correctly results in an incorrect choice or response. After a presentation, you must be pleased when people ask you questions. It may be a sign you were able to keep people engaged during the presentation , and that the program sparked interest in others. What you do to answer these questions will enhance your audience's view of you or boost their confidence when they purchase your product or service. As a professional, you'll be required to master how to ask pertinent questions but also how to effectively respond to questions.

Before you dive into answering to a question make sure you have in your mind what the question is about. It is not a bad idea to start by seeking clarity over what is being asked. If you are asked politely "I apologize, but I'm not sure I be able to comprehend what you're asking, would you mind rephrasing?" You'll be more effective by doing this rather than talking in a rambling manner with no clearness or comprehension. Keep in mind that the purpose of answering questions is for you in a positive way to the one who is seeking answers. Do not waste your time. Seek understanding first.

One way that can enhance your effectiveness in answering the question in a meaningful and objective manner is when you give the person posing you the question to finish asking. Some people like to explain precisely what they want to know. Being able to answer a problem before it is thoroughly asked can appear disrespectful. Do not presume that you are aware of where the question is headed and must assist the individual in getting to the bottom of the matter. If you're time-bound allow the person to "ramble" while taking note of important things. Also, it gives you time to make sense of and consider what is the best way to answer the question. Your ability to listen is what gives you a high success rate in answering questions.

You must determine if you are qualified to answer this issue or is someone else. Can you legally talk about this topic (journalists have the power to make you feel uncomfortable even though you're not expected to be the spokesperson of the company)? What is the depth of your answer be? Pauses and moments of silence let you know that you're not just creating whatever material is in your mind but a clearly thought out answer is in the pipeline. You can actually prepare the person in the audience for to answer you by declaring "Let me think ..., Let me think." ..". So that the person does not sit idle thinking that they aren't hearing, you are simply ignoring etc. This helps in coming up with suggestions that you will not regret in the future. You can evaluate the best solution to make your point without leaving scars or fresh wounds.
