A question is a question that asks for a reply or an answer. On a daily basis, you get to ask to get asked questions. Certain questions are open ended that need explanation, explanation or explanation others, while some are closed requiring just to answer with a Yes or No. In certain situations, others pose questions that do not require a response but just to get someone's attention (rhetoric question). The format to the problem, any answer will need to address what the questioner is trying to find. There are many students who fail exams and not due to being dull but rather because they fail know what the question is asking of them. A failure to present the problem properly leads to an incorrect action or response. After a presentation, you must be pleased when people ask you questions. It could indicate that people were engaged by what you were presenting and that your presentation generated interest in others. The way you respond will boost your audience's opinion of you , or increase their confidence in your company's product or services. As a professional you will be required learn questions and ask relevant questions but also how to respond to questions efficiently.

Before you decide to answer your question, ensure you know in your mind about what the question is about. There is no harm in looking for clarity about the question being asked. Inquire politely "I am sorry, I'm not sure if I get what you're saying I would appreciate if you could clarify?" Your communication will be better by doing this rather than being unable to speak with knowledge or clarity. Keep in mind that the purpose of answering questions is to contribute to the person seeking answers. Be quick to respond. Seek understanding first.

One method that can increase your effectiveness in answering the question in a meaningful and objective manner is when you give the person asking the question the time to finish asking. Some people may take their time to elaborate on what they are seeking. If you answer a question before it is asked in full may appear rude. Don't presume you are aware of where the questions are taking and therefore would like to assist the person to understand the question. If you're on time, let the person "ramble" while you make note of the key factors. It will also allow you time to make sense of and consider what is the best way to answer the question. Listening skills give you an extremely high chance of success in answering the questions.

You have to determine if you're qualified to answer this inquiry or you are. Are you authorized to talk on this topic (journalists can be very threatening even though you're not expected to be the company's spokesperson)? How long should your answer be? Pauses and moments of silence suggest that you're simply churning out whatever raw material you have in your mind, but a thought out solution is coming. You can actually prepare your audience member for an answer by declaring "Let me think about it ..., Let me consider it." ..". The person will do not just sit and think that you didn't hear the answer, and instead you're simply ignoring the person who is waiting for you to answer. This helps to formulate statements that you'll feel good on later. You can identify the most effective solution to make your point without leaving scratches or fresh wounds.
