The word "question" refers to a statement which asks for a response or an answer. On a regular basis, you are able to receive questions. Try asking politely "I am sorry, I do not seem to understand what you are asking, would you mind rephrasing?" It is easier to communicate in such a situation than being unable to speak with any clarity, or even understanding. The purpose behind answering questions is for you to contribute positively to the person looking for an answer. Don't take time. Seek understanding first.

One method to increase the quality of your answers to a question in a relevant and objective manner is when you allow the person asking your question time to complete asking. Many people will take the time to specify exactly what they want to convey. Being able to answer a problem before it is clearly asked for can be unprofessional. Don't assume that you know the direction the question is going hence you are trying to help to understand the question. If you're able then let the individual "ramble" while you keep track of important points. It gives you the time to formulate and come up with one of the most suitable answers to the question. The ability to hear gives an excellent chance to succeed with regards to your answers to questions.

You have to determine if you're qualified to answer the question or if someone else has the. Is it your right to speak on the subject (journalists may be in a position to sway you, even though you're not supposed to be to the company spokesperson)? What should the response be?
