An answer is a word which demands a response or answer. On a daily basis, it is possible to receive questions. Some questions a open ended necessitating explanations, explanations and so on while other questions are closed , requiring only one answer: Yes or No. There are instances where people ask questions that don't necessarily require a response but just an audience to listen to (rhetoric question). Depending on the format of the query, the answer that follows must address what they are looking for in the first place. Many students fail their tests in no way because they're dull but because they fail to grasp what is asked of them. Failure to answer the question correctly can lead to a wrong action or response. After the presentation, you should be happy when people have questions. It could indicate that they were engaged in what you were presenting and that your presentation has arouse interest among others. What you do to answer these questions will improve the perception of your audience of you and increase confidence in your product or service. As a professional you will need learn what it takes to be able to answer pertinent questions , and most importantly, you must know how to effectively respond to questions.

Before you start answering the question, make sure you know in your mind what the question is. It is not a bad idea to start by trying to understand what's being asked. Ask politely "I am sorry, I'm struggling to be able to understand what you're asking Would you mind changing the way you phrase it?" It is easier to communicate at this point than just ranting about with no discernment or clarity. Keep in mind that the goal of answering questions is to make a contribution to the person seeking answers. Avoid wasting time. Seek understanding first.

One strategy to increase your capacity to respond to any question in an appropriate and objective manner is if you give the person who is asking you the question to finish asking. Some people take time to clarify exactly what they are looking for. If you answer a question before it is completely asked could be disrespectful. It is not a good idea to assume you know exactly where the question is headed and would like to assist the person to clarify the issue. If you're having time you can let the person "ramble" while you make note of the key elements. It gives you the time to make sense of and consider how to best respond to the question. The ability to hear gives you a higher chance of success in your responses to questions.
