As a professional you will have to master that art of asking relevant queries, but you will also need to know how be able to answer them effectively.

Before you jump into answering your question, ensure you're in the clearest of your mind about what the question is. There's no harm in seeking clarification on the topic being asked. Ask politely "I apologize, you don't seem to get what you're saying Could you please clarify?" It's better to be more concise in such situations than shouting at the top of your lungs with no any clarity, or even understanding. Remember that the reason for answering questions is to contribute to the one who is seeking answers. Don't be a waste of time. Seek understanding first.

Another way to boost your effectiveness in answering any question in an appropriate and objective way is to ensure that you give the person who is asking your question time to complete asking. Certain people prefer to describe precisely what they are looking for. Being able to answer a problem before it is properly asked might seem to be disrespectful. Do not assume that you know exactly where the questions are taking and therefore must assist the individual reach the goal. If you're having time take the time to let the person "ramble" while you record key points. It also gives you time for you to think up the most effective answer to the question. The ability to hear gives you an extremely high chance of success in the answer to questions.
