Failure to answer the question correctly leads to incorrect action or response. After an excellent presentation, be pleased when people question you. It could be a sign that people were engaged by the presentation , and that the talk enticed others. Your response to these questions will increase the view of your audience of you or boost their confidence in your company's product or service. As a professional, you'll be required learn your art of asking pertinent questions and, most importantly, to effectively answer questions.

Before you plunge into answering a question, make sure you know in your mind what the question is. There's no harm in finding out the reason for the question being asked. Make a polite request "I am sorry, I'm not sure if I be able to understand what you're asking What would you like to change?" You will communicate better in such an instance than speaking in the same voice with no knowledge or clarity. Remember that the point of answering questions is for you to be a positive contributor to the person looking for an answer. Do not waste your time. Seek understanding first.

A way to increase the effectiveness of answering your question in an accurate and objective manner is if you allow the person who asked questions time to complete asking. Some people are slow to explain precisely what they want to convey. When you respond to a question without knowing what is asked in full may appear unprofessional. Do not assume that you know what direction the query is heading and thus you want to help the person to get to the point. If you have time then let the individual "ramble" while you keep track of important factors. It gives you time to organize and think of how to best respond to the question. The ability to listen gives you a high percentage of success in your responses to questions.

You have to establish if you are qualified to answer that query or if somebody else is. If you are not authorized, can you speak regarding the topic (journalists can make you look bad even if you are not legally required to be the spokesperson of the company)? What is the depth of your answer be? Pauses and moments of silence show that you are not just making up whatever material that you have in the mind, but a deliberate answer is on the horizon. You can actually prepare your audience member for an answer by saying "Let me think ..., let me think." ..". That way the person does stop waiting around, thinking that you didn't hear You are merely ignoring or not paying attention. It also allows you to make statements that you'll never regret about later. It is possible to identify the best way to present your argument with wisdom without leaving the person with cuts or wounds.
